History

2009 LuraTech introduced two new options to the PDF Compressor. These options include born digital to PDF/A document conversion for long-term archiving, and free-form, or unstructured form recognition.
LuraTech changed its licensing model, offering more flexibility to customers.
2008 The PDF Compressor is extended to include multi-core processor support, form recognition and data extraction options. These optional features allow for users to process documents far faster, eliminates the need for manual sorting and data extraction.
2007 LuraTech adds digital signature to PDF Compressor. This innovation extends the PDF Compressor to now offer data compression, OCR, PDF/A support and electronic signatures, all in a single product.
2006 LuraTech launches comprehensive imaging solution, the JP2 Image Content Server.
LuraTech initiates and serves as one of the founding members of the PDF/A Competence Center.
LuraTech is one of the first vendors to offer PDF/A compliant products for scanned documents. LuraTech's LuraDocument solutions now support PDF/A.
2005 ABBYY OCR was integrated into LuraTech’s PDF Compressor Server, creating the first MRC compressed PDF with hidden text. Since this time, LuraTech has established itself as an industry leader in document conversion solutions with continued advancements around workflow and automation and improvements in image quality and performance.
2004 LuraTech becomes owner managed when the executive team purchases the company from its original investors. This shift enables the company to focus on delivering comprehensive end-to-end document and imaging solutions, rather than individual tool kits.
2003 PDF output was announced for DMS.
2002 Applying the concepts of MRC layered document compression to the Adobe PDF standard, LuraTech created the PDF Compressor. This was the first workflow solution that LuraTech built on top of its software development kits.
2000 LuraTech participated in ISO Standardization Committees, which ratified the JPEG2000 standard. Through LuraTech’s leadership, the committees evolved their focus from proprietary solutions to developing solutions based on open standards. The result: Parts 1 and 6 of the JPEG2000 standard that applied to wavelet compression and document segmentation technology became standardized formats (.JP2 and .JPM). LuraTech developed a JBIG2 solution to compress black and white documents and binary compression layer within the .JPM document compression solutions.
1997 LuraTech developed segmentation technologies to deal with scanned documents containing mixed raster content (MRC), resulting in the creation of LuraDocument LDF, a proprietary document format for the compression of scanned documents.
1995 LuraTech originated as part of a joint project with the University of Berlin designed to bring wavelet compression techniques to still digital images. The partnership resulted in the creation of the proprietary LuraWave wavelet-based compression technique, which was sold as software development kits and services.
