LuraDocument.jpm: significantly faster decoder released
The performance of the LuraDocument.jpm Command-Line-Tool and C-SDK has
been substantially improved: besides supporting a new, true
bitonal-only decoder mode, the decoding time has also been
significantly reduced. The extremely fast, bitonal-only decoder enables
convenient scrolling in large volumes of data and large-format scans.
The colour data are only loaded once the correct file has been found.
This, too, is significantly faster than in the past.
PdfCompressor: supports a wide range of new input formats
Two major improvements – both of which were promptly implemented at our
customers' request – are available in the new release of the
LuraDocument.jpm PdfCompressor: PdfCompressor now not only processes
un-compressed single and multi-page TIFFs, but also compressed TIFF,
JPEG, BMP and PPM/PGM files. This allows scans to be processed far
more conveniently... and considerably faster as well; this is because
the amount of information to be transported prior to final compression
is much smaller if the scanner is able to deliver entirely loss-free,
or only slightly diminished compressed data. The second important point
involves logging enhancements, in particular, log-file analysis. A
broad spectrum of additional statuses and events – such as
write-protected files, naming conflicts etc. – is recorded and, in
particular, written to the log-file in plain text.
LuraWave.jp2 C-SDK GEO Edition: new with special GEO functions
JPEG2000 is also becoming increasingly popular in association with GEO
and GIS. Besides ESRI and Intergraph, more and more suppliers in this
sector are beginning to offer the display of JPEG2000 files directly
in their products. A major problem is often the immensity of the raster
graphic which, although highly compressible with JPEG2000, is too
memory-intensive and time-consuming for on-screen display. The new
GEO Edition of LuraWave.jp2 C-SDK contains special interfaces for
effectively accessing screen sections and supports tiling, as well as
region decoding without the file having to contain tiles. Highly
compressed JPEG2000 data can now be integrated into applications while
remaining 100% standard-compliant. CEO Edition naturally also supports
XML, an important prerequisite for using the OpenGIS consortium's
GML specification. Interested?

LuraWave.jp2: compression now even faster!
Often, fast compression is far more important than reducing the data
precisely to the predefined target size. Although the target size may
be slightly overrun in the new speed-up mode, whatever happens,
compression is considerably faster. Use of this mode is optional, so
the compressed target byte size can still be precisely attained, if so
desired. A customer survey showed, however, that in over 95 percent
of all cases the new mode could be used, with LuraWave.jp2 compressing
significantly faster than in the past! This mode is available in the
current (1.15) and later versions of C-SDK.

LuraDocument.jpm Office PlugIn: now available
The Office PlugIn familiar to LuraDocument 4.0 users is now also
available for LuraDocument.jpm. The Office PlugIn enables JPM files to
be embedded effortlessly into Office documents. The Office PlugIn
achieves this by means of the Active Document interface, also used by
Saperion. The Office PlugIn release therefore also supports
JPEG2000/Part6 for Saperion. In addition to its ability to embed
JPM files, the Office PlugIn is also a stand-alone viewer for
JPEG2000/Part6 compliant files.
