JPEG2000/Part6 - LuraDocument.jpm: Beta program has begun
Algo Vision LuraTech introduces LuraDocument.jpm, the first worldwide
implementation of the new ISO standard JPEG2000/Part6.
JPEG2000/Part6 is the standard for compressing real documents in
color. That's because the scanned documents are first segmented, i.e.,
the image components are separated from the text components and the text
is divided up again into pure black & white text and the text color. The
resulting three layers are compressed separately from each other. None
of the text layer is lost (lossless compression), which means that the
quality of the text is optimal. This is especially significant for
readability and OCR capability (text recognition). The other two layers
are each compressed separately in JPEG2000/Part1 (the image
compression within the JPEG2000 format family). This results in enormous
compression rates – rates from 1:100 to 1:500 are not unusual – and the
well-known very high image quality of JPEG2000.
This approach may seem familiar to many because it is exactly the same
one already used with the well-known LuraDocument. Therefore,
LuraDocument.jpm can also be considered to be an update in the
LuraDocument product family that is in keeping with the standard. Soon,
all the familiar tools of LuraDocument will be available for
LuraDocument.jpm.
While LuraDocument generated LDF files, the file extension for
JPEG2000/Part6, incidentally, is JPM. JPM is supported not only by
Algo Vision LuraTech, but by other companies in document imaging,
including such well-known names as Xerox, Ricoh, NEC and others.
Now there's nothing more standing in the way of archiving in color.
All users and many prospective clients have always considered
LuraDocument to be the solution that makes color archiving possible.
With LuraDocument.jpm, the only remaining objection has been eliminated,
because LuraDocument.jpm is no longer proprietary but 100% compatible
with the ISO standard! (In contrast to the only previous competitor ...)
For those who can decide quickly, it is possible to grab one of the last
spaces in the beta test program for LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK. Detailed
information and complete (free) support for JPEG2000/Part6 will be
made available prior to official release only to beta testers. Make sure
you have this competitive advantage and also the option to be able to
acquire the release version of LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK at the special
price that is exclusively for beta testers.
Further information about JPEG2000/Part6, LuraDocument.jpm and the
beta test program is available at:
