Avision delivers JPM-style PDF as Hot-Bundling with each scanner
As of this October, the leading scanner manufacturer Avision (Taiwan) delivers
their scanner series AV210/AV220/AV610 bundled with LuraDocument.jpm
PdfSolutions - the solution for highly compressed JPM-style PDF-files. For
this purpose, Avision's AVScan has been enhanced by means of the
LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK, so that JPM-style PDFs are now produced directly
by the Capture software without detouring.
The advantage for the customer: Time-consuming intermediate steps like
the storing of uncompressed original scans for the downstream
compression are eliminated. Thus the advantages of the JPM-style PDFs are
obvious: The production of very highly compressed scans with both excellent
visual and image quality.

Fujitsu/PFU lists PdfCompressor in the ISV program for scanner tools
The world-famous Japanese scanner manufacturer recommends selected and
useful tools concerning the scan process to its customers in the context
of its ISV (Independent Software Vendor) program. As the first
non-Japanese provider LuraTech is now an ISV program participant and now
Fujitsu/PFU presents the LuraDocument.jpm PdfCompressor series to its
customers.
So the successful history of the JPM-style PDFs continues into the next round.

DMS Expo: JBIG2 compression, linearized JPM-style PDFs and more
The DMS Expo and symposium is imminent. From September 7th to 9th, we
will present our product news to you: The newest member of the
LuraDocument.jpm family is the 'JBIG2 compression' and will be presented
at the DMS for the first time. JBIG2 is an ISO standard of the JPEG
group and is suitable for the compression of black-and-white scans or
the black-and-white layer in JPM or JPM-style PDF-files. JBIG2 usually
replaces TIFF Fax G4 and obtains 30-40% smaller file sizes - lossless!
A genuine cost saver for each archive - whether it is black and white or
color!
Do you work with multipage-PDF files or place these on the internet?
Then our new feature 'linearized JPM-style PDFs' will be of interest to
you. You are able to read linearized PDFs while the back pages are still
being loaded. Jumping between the pages can also be done much faster.
This option is available for the LuraDocument.jpm PdfCompressor and the
SDK.

JPEG2000 standardization: Hidden text and annotations for JPM
The ISO committee continues to work on JPEG2000. Even with this long established
standard, and many successful JPEG2000 products, there are empiric reports and
customers' requests again and again, which have lead to the so-called
'amendments'. LuraTech has currently initiated an amendment which
concerns the storage of the OCR results and similar items within
JPEG2000/Part6 (JPM). The amendment is referenced as 'hidden texts and
annotations'.
