The team of LuraTech GmbH and LuraTech, Inc. thanks all customers and
partners for the successful year 2004! You have contributed to the fact
that JPEG2000 became a firm size in the market. We owe you that our
Management Buy Out proceeded successfully.
The switches for 2005 are posed: Our rapid international turnover growth
- particularly with LuraDocument - shows that the trend to color scanning
accelerates. Our turnover growth of more than 50% in Germany makes us
very confident, too, especially in the economically crisis-ridden
Germany of the year 2004!

LuraWave, LuraDocument: New product structure from the beginning of 2005
Following repeated customers' requests, our product range starts into
the new year 2005 after being re-sorted to achieve a better clarity and
a higher recognition factor. Our wide range of compression products
which follow open standards will be subdivided into only two product
groups. LuraWave and LuraDocument are the brand-protected generic terms
which you should memorize:
LuraWave
contains all products and image formats for photo-realistic
images. Among those are certainly digital photos, medical images and
also aerial- and satellite images. The sub-groups LWF und JP2 belong to
this product group. LWF is the wavelet compression particularly
developed by LuraTech, while JP2 indicates the products with our
high-performance JPEG2000-conform implementation.
LuraDocument
is the generic term for document compression. Among those
are the product groups LDF, JPM, Binarization, JBIG2 and PDF. LDF is
LuraTech's document compression, which is presently replaced by JPM, the
solution for JPEG2000/Part6. The PDF-group supplies everything for the
production of highly compressed JPM-style PDF files. JBIG2 contains the
products for the efficient black-and-white compression. Absolutely new in
the document family LuraDocument are the specialized products for
binarization which help you to optimize the recognition rates of your
OCR processes.

New customers opt for LuraDocument and LuraWave
Numerous new customers have opted for solutions based on LuraTech data
compression products. They include:
- OCE Deutschland installs the LuraDocument PDF Compressor at the BEWAG electric power company in Berlin
- dms GmbH, Dortmund now also uses the LuraDocument PDF Compressor besides JPM for scan-services for customers
- Image Engineering Dietmar Wüller uses the LuraDocument PDF compressor for customer projects
- Critical Imaging, USA, enlarges the use of LuraWave in the context of its infrared-detectors and -cameras
- Micro World, USA procures LuraWave for an American customer
- Genline, Sweden offers the Genline Family Finder with LuraWave now also on Macintosh OS X
- Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG orders the upgrade and support package and uses the faster LuraWave JP2 SDK in the version 2
- Kodak, China orders further LuraWave JP2 licenses for its PACS system
- VISUS Technology Transfer GmbH uses LuraWave JP2 also for the Macintosh OS X and Linux platform
- Carl Zeiss Meditec, USA enlarges the use of LuraWave JP2 with an enterprise license
