LuraTech shows many important innovations at the DMS joining the Kodak booth

Important news for all users of LuraDocument PDF products: LuraTech integrates OCR functionality in its PDF solutions! This enables you to create high compressed and full text searchable PDF files in just one step. Many customers have asked for this feature, now it will be available in all products from LuraDocument Capture up to LuraDocument PDF Compressor Server 3.

Besides that LuraTech will present a new version of its LuraDocument JPM/PDF for Kodak Capture Software. See how easily you can create high compressed, full text searchable PDF files directly from the Kodak Capture Software live at the Kodak booth. LuraDocument JPM/PDF compresses your color documents to the same size as black/white TIFF Fax G4 files. Black/white originals it reduces to even 50% less than Fax G4 does!

You are invited to see how LuraDocument JPM/PDF can expand the possibilities of your Kodak Capture Software and how it can greatly increase your productivity. See you at:
  • LuraTech at the Kodak booth (hall 1, booth 1650)
or at the lecture "Archive formats for scanned documents" on
  • Wednesday, September, 28th 2005 at 3:45 pm (DMS symposium).
Certainly we will be glad to inform you about all LuraDocument JPM and LuraWave JP2 products and answer your questions about JPEG2000. Benefit from 10 years of imaging experience and make your appointment now:

INTERGEO: LuraTech presents compression solutions for large maps

The handling and processing of large-sized, scanned maps is our main focus at the internationally largest trade fair for geodesy, geo information and land management.

LuraTech joins its partner Image Pro at the INTERGEO at Duesseldorf in hall 3 / booth J3.102. Come and see how LuraDocument products make digitization and archiving of large maps and plans easier, more efficient and more economical!
As an important component of software solutions for cadastral archives build by LuraTech partners, LuraDocument has been established in many land registries. It has evolved into a quasi standard and is increasingly used by building authorites too.

Planning and constructing always produce large maps, plans, and drawings. Scanning these documents which often are larger than DIN A1 inherently is a technical challenge. When storing the scanned documents many users like land registry and surveying offices or electricity suppliers exceed the capacity of their storage. Especially when they scan color documents the resulting file size is 30 MB or even more than 300 MB. This leads to unacceptable long acces times. Reducing the resolution is not a way out for these kind of users because document details would get lost.

At INTERGEO 2005 LuraTech offers an innovative and superior solution to this problem. LuraDocument JPM is the first implementation of a new ISO standard for compression of scanned color documents world-wide. It particularly is designed for use in document management (DMS) and geo information systems (GIS). LuraDocument JPM reduces the file size of your color scans to the size of a black and white scan without loss of quality! Even black and white scans shrink to half the size of a TIFF Fax G4 file when compressed with LuraDocument JBIG2! LuraDocument speeds up transmission and drastically reduces storage demands as well as access time by using JPEG2000 technology.

Experience report. Today: LuraDocument at the electricity supplier BEWAG

Starting today we will report on applications and solutions built with LuraTech software to help you benefit from the practical experience of other users. This is intended as decision support and suggestions for improvement of your company's processes. We will provide you with more detailed information about exemplary or outstanding solutions that are integrating LuraTech products. Today we will take a look at how LuraDocument helps BEWAG, electricity supplier of Berlin and subsidiary of Vattenfall, to save time and money.

The central BEWAG print and reproduction department scans and files large color plans of electricity networks. Stored as big TIFF file these plans are difficult to handle and consume lots of storage space. Therefore BEWAG decided to use the LuraDocument PDF Compressor based Océ Image Compressor to compress each plan down to approx. 3 MB at highest quality.

Jutta Hannemann, manager print/repro at BEWAG: "We have an internal limit of 10 MB per file. Thus we had a problem. Thanks to Océ Image Compressor and the outstanding support by Océ and LuraTech we optimally meet the demands of our customers now." After this successful application of LuraDocument PDF technology BEWAG plans to roll out further installations of Océ Image Compressor.

Compressed with LuraDocument PDF, scanned plans and maps release network capacity and can easily be sent by e-mail. File access time is reduced, productivity increases, and efficient archiving becomes possible. Working with Océ Image Compressor can save you time and money!

"Our large size scanners, e.g. the Océ TCS410, are used by electricity suppliers, land surveying offices, architects and engineering companies for digitalization of plans, maps, and mechanical drawings", Dr. Ing. Klaus Pueschel, sales director of Océ Deutschland GmbH comments. "With Océ Image Compressor based on LuraDocument we offer these customers a solution that enables both high quality color scans and PDF files small enough for fast transmission and efficient storage."
