Debuting this month, the latest version of LuraDocument PDF Compressor Server lets you automatically identify documents by analyzing their barcodes. This new feature enables the PDF Compressor Server to create highly compressed PDF and PDF/A files from scanned documents that are full text searchable (OCR). It also lets users separate documents and auto index them, eliminating the need to presort the individual files into subdirectories and then merge them in multipage-documents. If need be, users can store all the barcode information as metadata in the PDF or PDF/A files, or utilize them for naming the output files.
Another new feature is the assignment of job priorities. The user can assign a priority to each individual job. The advantage here is that smaller stacks of documents can be processed on short notice without holding up the big jobs. This new feature is particularly useful for scanning service providers and scan shops because now they can work through stacks of scanning documents simultaneously, even if those jobs are not in any particular order. In other words: The PDF Compressor Server has become even more user friendly and flexible!
Many more improvements have been made, including the ability to process other input formats. Optimized storage management also now lets users quickly process extremely large documents that are larger than DIN A0 (oversize format).

LuraTech will be exhibiting at this year's Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) International Annual Conference & Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md.!
Meet Mark McKinney, LuraTech's vice president of sales and marketing, and discuss the latest product enhancements (see article above) of LuraDocument PDF Compressor and learn about other PDF/A products LuraTech offers for records and information management professionals, counsels, government and IT professionals and managers, and CIOs.
For example, you can learn more about...
... LuraDocument PDF Compressor Server quickly and cost-effectively converts color or black and white scanned documents into high-quality, excellently compressed PDF and PDF/A files using a best-in-class Mixed Raster Content (MRC) compression algorithm. This software application easily integrates in your document workflow processes and enables organizations to create highly accurate, full-text searchable documents via the Compressor Server's fully integrated OCR engine. MRC reduces high resolution color documents up to 300 to 1 and black and white scanned documents can be crunched up to 10 to 1. By reducing the file size of scanned documents, users can save on storage costs and speed up delivery over networks.
Also PDF Compressor Server allows extreme batch processing. It enables users to compress up to 1.7 million pages of color documents and 6 million black and white text pages a month.
... LuraDocument PDF Printer enables users to meet long-term PDF/A archiving needs. This printer driver can convert a digital document (from Word, Excel or other applications) to a PDF/A file. Set up as a virtual printer, PDF Printer can be easily installed and used with every Windows application, convert CAD files and all other electronic documents to PDF/A-1b or PDF format 1.4 or 1.5.
... LuraDocument PDF Validator allows users to prove that externally-generated PDF/A files are truly PDF/A-compatible before archiving them. LuraDocument PDF Validator checks to make sure that the PDF/A document fulfills the ISO-certified regulations, and only then will allow electronic archiving. If it finds errors, it documents them in a report. LuraDocument PDF Validator is available as a Command Line Tool or as a Desktop version.

E-BizDocs, a service bureau serving two New York State agencies, faced a data overload when they began digitally archiving 200 million double-sided medical and legal documents in color. Using PDF/A with MRC compression from LuraTech, E-BizDocs was able to reduce their storage requirements by 90 percent and improved transfer capabilities by reducing file sizes from 8MB to 80kb per page. By employing LuraDocument PDF Compressor, E-BizDocs discovered that producing high-quality replications of original documents in color to PDF/A via MRC compression does not have to be costly or require inordinate amounts of storage. The LuraDocument PDF Compression allowed color documents to be scanned and compressed in a size comparable to black and white PDFs. More importantly, by saving files as PDF/A, the agencies are ensuring long-term accessibility of the digital document copies and alleviating concerns about future technology changes and compliance with regulations that require records to be maintained for more than 40 years.
