PDF Compressor 5.5 with Form Recognition Module Enhanced to Include Redaction, Page Adjustment and Checkmark Recognition
(San Jose, Ca., October 12, 2009) LuraTech today announced the release of the latest version of its industry leading document conversion solution. LuraDocument® PDF Compressor 5.5 has been enhanced with a number of new features specific to the add-on Form Recognition module, an option intended to minimize manual processes – such as document classification, data extraction and validation. These new features include Redaction, Page Adjustment and Checkmark Recognition.
Redaction describes the process of identifying and erasing certain portions of a document’s content, for example, when organizations need to make documents with sensitive information publically available online. Specified areas of both structured and unstructured scanned documents can be marked, inspected and deleted through a workflow process. This allows organizations to easily automate the lion’s share of the redaction process, while applying a human check to guarantee accuracy. By combining the power of field level data identification with automated redaction, organizations can save time while securing sensitive information accurately.
Page Adjustment is a new feature for the template-based form recognition. Skewed or poorly aligned pages are common when scanning documents. However, for accurate recognition results it is important that documents are aligned so that fields with fixed coordinates can be properly identified. With this release, users are given the option to specify fields on a page which serve as “anchors” for an adjustment. Pages are then deskewed and adjusted accordingly greatly improving recognition and data extraction results.
Checkmark Recognition (sometimes also called Optical Mark Recognition or OMR), can now be applied to both structured and unstructured documents. Users can specify checkmark fields and groups of them. Then the PDF Compressor will determine whether each field that has been marked or not. This allows organizations to quickly tabulate the results of surveys and forms that use check marks eliminating time consuming manual processing.
