Integrated Platform Supports Processing of Incoming Documents and Storage in Standard Long-Term Archival Format
(Berlin & Norderstedt) LuraTech Europe GmbH today announced that foxray AG has added LuraDocument PDF Compressor to the foxray xbound integration platform, enabling users to archive incoming documents in PDF/A format for long-term archival. LuraDocument PDF Compressor compresses scanned documents and exports them PDF/A format, allowing foxray customers archive files and minimizing storage requirements, while improving and ensuring long-term accessibility. The first customer for the combined solution is Ratiodata, a German-based provider of scanning services.
Companies and public agencies are required to retain documents, such as applications, forms, contracts or advisory reports, for many years. However, this is a challenge because the growing volume of data can consume massive amounts of storage, and data must remain legible in perpetuity and be quickly accessible.
PDF/A meets these requirements simply and quickly. It is the ISO standard for long-term archiving specifies in detail what is required to ensure long-term readability of the documents regardless of the application software and operating system in which they were originally produced.
The integration of LuraTech’s PDF Compressor enables foxray xbound users to convert scanned JPEG, TIFF and PDF documents into highly compressed, searchable PDF/A files directly from the inbox. The conversion produces cost-effective, compressed black and white or color documents requiring little storage space. To further reduce storage requirements, users have the option to automatically delete the source documents from the xbound platform after conversion.
The PDF Compressor technology was integrated in xbound as an activity, which can run on multiple servers in parallel. Since each activity in every process can be configured individually, the same code base can cover numerous requirements. The integrated PDF Compressors and xbound platform can be use in high-volume environments as well as for processing of smaller quantities of documents.
The foxray xbound integration platform enables companies to integrate all input media and downstream systems simply with the digital inbox. It uses a standard interface, which significantly reduces the effort of integrating applications. All modules required for the inbox are available in graphical form in libraries. The system also functions as a development platform on which partners and customers can integrate their own functions. Integration is implemented only once, significantly reducing the effort and expense for setting up new projects.
