A world premiere from Berlin:
Following a successful BETA phase, LuraDocument.jpm, the first commercial JPEG2000/Part6 implementation is now available.
Algo Vision LuraTech GmbH reports that the BETA phase of its LuraDocument.jpm
has now been successfully completed. To ensure the compression software for the
new ISO standard meets the expectations and requirements of users in every
respect, the Berlin-based company asked for developers to take part in a
detailed BETA test between 01 and 23 July 2003. There was a great response. From
China, Thailand and the USA to Spain, Germany and the UK, about 20 companies
around the world tested LuraDocument.jpm. Even at this early stage, it is clear
that LuraDocument.jpm is a real success for Algo Vision LuraTech. The first
users have already integrated the software in their systems.
LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK for Windows can be quickly integrated into systems and is
a toolset for the digital archiving of color documents that contain both image
elements as well as text. With this version, the previously non-standardized LDF
format receives its first standard-conforming successor.
BETA phase participants were very enthusiastic about the new software: "We
congratulate Algo Vision LuraTech for providing the world's first commercial JPM
implementation", said Michael Gormish, Senior Research Engineer at Ricoh
Innovations (USA). The test partners also reported that they were able to test
LuraDocument.jpm in their applications within just a few days. "The
software is easy to program. It required hardly any development work to
integrate the compression solution into our graphic viewer", confirms Jean
Piquemal, Chief Architect at Konvertor (France). Participants further praised
the stability and functionality of the new version of LuraDocument. The quality,
compression rate and performance were all rated very good, as in previous
versions.
Some applications already use LuraDocument.jpm. Besides Konvertor, IrfanView
(Austria) will integrate LuraDocument.jpm in the next version of its graphic
viewer. Other test partners develop system solutions for the land survey offices
and land registry in Germany. Here, they will implement JPM as an innovative and
future-proof solution for archiving plans and documents in their system
applications. Developers of Document Management systems also communicated that
their software applications will support the JPM format in the future. So,
thanks to Algo Vision LuraTech, use of the new standard will spread rapidly,
especially in the areas of DMS and GIS - the target branches of the Berlin-based
company.
"Following the completion of the BETA test phase, we can now present the
world's first commercial JPM implementation - LuraDocument.jpm," comments
Carsten Heiermann, Managing Director of Algo Vision LuraTech GmbH. "With
this new product, Algo Vision LuraTech unequivocally demonstrates its leading
international position in the market segment of compression software."
Thanks to the successful test phase, LuraDocument.jpm will be available from
1 August 2003. Besides the C-SDK, Viewer LuraDocument.jpm ActiveX Control for
Internet Explorer will also be released. August also sees the launch of the
LuraDocument.jpm Command Line tool for batch processing as well as
LuraDocument.jpm Capture as a stand-alone tool.
