Create high quality, compressed files in one step: LuraDocument is available with a new export module for Kodak Capture
(Berlin) The new LuraDocument JPM/PDF Kodak CS Exporter enables users to export
documents digitized with Kodak Capture software. The documents can be outputted
in the LuraDocument JPM or PDF formats, which are highly compressed and appear
like their originals. Since file sizes are greatly reduced, data transfer
speeds are faster and memory requirements reduced. A special feature of this
solution is its seamless integration into the Kodak Capture client. This enables
users to create highly compressed files in one simple step. A free demo version
can be requested at
www.luratech.com.
The Kodak CS Exporter allows users to export scanned documents in highly
compressed formats directly from Kodak Capture while maintaining their original
look and feel. Both LuraDocument JPM and PDF can be selected as the output
format. By selecting LuraDocument PDF the compressed documents will be saved in
the standard PDF file format. The files produced can be viewed with Acrobat
Reader 5.0 or higher, thus avoiding the need to install additional plug-ins. The
module works superbly with black and white documents by using standard JBIG2
compression viewable within the PDF format. Moreover it works exceptionally
well on grayscale and full color documents by applying LuraTech's unique Mixed
Raster Content (MRC) compression based on the JPEG2000/Part6 standard.
Standards-compliant compression with LuraDocument
As a study by Kodak showed, staff productivity improves if companies save their
digitized documents in color. Color documents can be recognized and processed
faster and more easily than black and white copies. The LuraDocument JPM and PDF
formats make color possible through intelligent compression. Now companies can
scan documents in color and maintain their original look and feel while meeting
the same stringent storage and bandwidth requirements previously only met by
black and white, low resolutions scans. In fact, LuraDocument JPM and PDF files,
despite being in color, are the same size as the well known black and white
FaxG4 TIFF files.
But even if organizations work only with black and white documents, they too can
benefit. The LuraDocument JPM and PDF exporter compress black and white scans to
sizes 50% smaller than Fax G4 TIFF files.
And LuraTech formats are 100% compatible with international standards such as
JPEG2000, and JBIG2. This gives companies interoperability, vendor independence
and guaranteed long-term accessibility to their documents.
