No limits: create highly compressed, full-text enabled PDFs with the new PDF Compressor

(Berlin) The compression specialist LuraTech will present the new version 3 of the company's PDF Compressor at this year's DMS EXPO. The software is designed to reduce the size of scanned documents and PDF files. Files compressed with the new version 3 includes a powerful OCR engine thus can produce not only highly compressed PDF's, but PDF's that include searchable text. Also LuraTech is introducing a simplified, more cost-effective license model, which no longer counts the number of pages processed.
This new pricing model already applies for the new LuraDocument JPM/PDF Kodak CS Exporter. This tool allows documents digitized with Kodak Capture Software to be exported as highly compressed LuraDocument JPM or PDF files that look like their originals. LuraTech will present its solutions at the Kodak booth (Hall 1, Stand 1650) during the DMS trade show in Essen, Germany from September 27-29, 2005.

The PDF Compressor by LuraTech is especially designed to compress scanned documents and PDF files. LuraTech has improved the efficiency and performance in the new version 3: by integrating OCR which means the compressed files can now be full-text enabled. This allows words or text passages to be searched and/or extracted.

The compressed PDF files can be viewed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or higher. The minimization of file sizes facilitates the exchange of information via e-mail or across the Internet by making downloads and data transfer significantly faster. Moreover, it can reduce storage costs greatly.

Many organizations are already enjoying the benefits of using the PDF Compressor. The central savings bank for Hesse and Thuringia (Helaba) in Germany, for example, uses the PDF Compressor to digitize its foreign currency checks. Maurice Vogelsaenger, a developer at Helaba, made the following comment about working with the software: 'This is the kind of software users dream of. Ready to go after installation, and it just keeps running....' The new pricing policy makes the PDF Compressor from LuraTech even more attractive. Customers can use the high-end 'server' version without any restrictions. There are now no additional charges based on the number compressed pages rendered, as is often the case with competitive products. The desktop version is intended for workstation use or distributed scanning, and the medium version represents an inexpensive entry-level license for low to moderate document volume that still require batch processing.
