LuraDocument JPM is the easy-to-integrate, high performance
implementation of the new ISO standard JPEG2000/Part6.
JPEG2000/Part6 is an innovative compression technology for
scanned color documents containing both bilevel elements (text,
technical drawings) and images. Files created by LuraDocument JPM
are 100% compliant to ISO standard JPEG2000/Part6.
The text segment is stored lossless using the Fax G4 format, fore-
and background are highly compressed using JPEG2000 - well-known for
its good image quality.
LuraDocument JPM offers excellent visual quality at smallest file
sizes and is ideally suited for use in the fields of Document Management
(DMS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The technology is capable of reaching compression rates of 1:150 to
1:500 while still preserving full readability of the text and excellent
quality of the images. This makes LuraDocument JPM far superior to even
the wide spread PDF format.
LuraDocument JPM is available as:

LuraDocument JPM is the standard-compliant successor of the well known
LuraDocument LDF. LuraDocument JPM generates JPM files whereas LuraDocument LDF
produces LDF files. The performance characteristics of both the
product families are almost identical.

The Concepts Behind LuraDocument JPM
|
 |
LuraDocument JPM is a document compression software preserving both the
readability of text and the visual quality and color of images within
a compound document. The underlying concept of the compression process
is the partitioning of the document into three distinct segments:
- a bilevel image containing text,
- a foreground image containing the color information of the text segments and
- a residual image devoid of text components.
Each distinct segment is then compressed using seperate algorithms
specifically adapted to the corresponding type of data.
The text is compressed losslessy using the Fax G4 format, the fore- and
background is highly compressed using the JPEG2000 format - providing
the well known, good image quality at a high compression rate.
LuraDocument proves to be particularly efficient for documents containing
large image components. The example shows a magazine page scanned at 300 dpi.
